Greta HangoutFox News’ Greta Van Susteren is an active tweeter, and she has also taken to Google+ Hangout.

Today, she took time out of her Fox TV show preparation to host a hangout with Seattle-based Fox correspondent Dan Springer, who’s been covering the the tragic Seattle mudslide from Saturday that killed 16 people and left 90 missing.

After opening with a little Q + A on Springer’s pre-journalism career (he tried playing baseball in college), Springer, who’s been reporting from Seattle for 12 years, told Greta most of the missing are presumed dead.

“There now saying, because there is a firm number of 90 people missing…in all likelihood, most, if not all of those 90 people were killed in that mudslide,” Springer said.

Greta tells Lost Remote Google Hangouts let viewers get a better feel for the correspondents they see on TV.

“Google Hangouts are a great addition to TV segments. It gives the viewers/bloggers a chance to MEET the Fox correspondents or guests they see often ON THE RECORD at 7pm,” Van Susteren tells Lost Remote. “People can seem very different on TV and the Hangouts are a more natural forum. I’m able to get to the real gritty behind-the-scenes stories without time constraints.”

She herself also has a blast: “Hangouts are fun for me because I always learn something new and I get to show viewers another side of our OTR guests and my FNC colleagues.”

CNN is also covering the mudslide online.

Their website’s impact page, is giving readers information on the different ways they can help victims of the landslide, and CNN is posting stories on the mudslide on its Facebook page and @CNN twitter handle.
