First Meerkat, Then Drones

Stringwire, NBCUniversal’s live-streaming news app, announced a partnership to support a remote controlled aircraft DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ drone. So if you have one in your hall closet, dust it off and download the lastest version of the Stringwire app.

Stringwire was created to allow citizen journalists, and professional ones, a way to live-stream breaking news directly to a database that makes it easy for broadcasters to use. Using a drone might not be available to everyone, but the Phantom is one of the most popular consumer drone for photography and filmmaking on the market. Just don’t break any FAA regulations.

Mark Graham, SVP and General Manager, Stringwire said in an official statement that the move “is part of our ongoing commitment to advance newsgathering across all platforms.” So be it. With the latest version of the app, users can get pretty serious. It’s also supported on Parrot BeBop Drone and Skycontroller and the GoPro Series 3 devices.
