Dating App Created for Bravo’s ‘Online Dating Rituals of the American Male’ Goes Mainstream

1Bravo’s latest show, ‘Online Dating Rituals of the American Male,’ follows two men each episode as they explore the world of online dating. The men don’t use traditional dating sites like Match.com or newer dating apps like Tinder. Instead, they use Tryst – an app created specifically for the show.

In late 2013, the creators of the show reached out to Sway Network about creating an app for the show’s cast members to use that would make it easy to find dates online and then meet up in person, with the whole process being filmed.

Working closely with the ‘Online Dating Rituals’ team, Sway Network – the makers of Let’s Meet and Sway – came back with Tryst, and the app worked so well for the show that it is now available to consumers.

Since the show’s series premiere three weeks ago, Tryst has already attracted over 150,000 users. According to the company, 75% of Tryst users are matched within the first three hours of signing up, spend 10 minutes each day chatting, and meet up within two days of continued conversations with matches.

It will be interesting to see whether other reality and scripted shows follow suit, creating digital experiences to be used in the show before turning them into true client-facing products.
