CW’s ‘Arrow’ loses social TV buzz and ratings points, is this correlation?

By Natan Edelsburg

At the end of November we pointed out that GetGlue data from Trendrr on Revenge matched up with linear data from Nielsen. GetGlue’s data on scripted shows from December 10-16 reveals a similar trend with the CW’s Arrow. Here are the details.

The CW’s Arrow dropped down from #4 to #9 and had half the number of activity from the previous airing’s data on GetGlue’s chart. Similarly, the traditional ratings for the episode dipped 9%. Have we reached correlation yet? In October 2011, Nielsen revealed a report that hinted at correlation among younger demos, the same ages that love and watch Revenge and Arrow. As the “Nielsen Twitter Rating” comes closer to existence, are we able to claim that for shows that target younger viewers social TV buzz correlates to ratings?
