Celebrating the Launch of Its Tumblr, and Festivus, ‘Seinfeld’ Takes over the Tumblr Logo

By Adam Flomenbaum

Today, December 23, is “Festivus” – a day where work is slow and we can air our grievances.

To celebrate the holiday (and to launch the official ‘Seinfeld’ tumblr), Sony Pictures Television has taken over the Tumblr Dot and logo for the day in the first-ever activation of its kind. If only Tumblr fan art existed while the show was on…

In the upper left-hand corner of users’ Tumblr dashboards, the Tumblr logo has received a ‘Seinfeld’ colorway. Fans can then enable ‘Festivus Mode,’ which will activate the classic ‘Seinfeld’ theme song as users scroll through Tumblr, and learn more about the holiday.

Tumblr’s Marketr blog posted the following about the initiative:

Happy Festivus everyone. May your pole be forever unadorned.

This might be our favorite dot yet. It’s certainly the most musical. A big thanks—not just to Sony Pictures Television for their help—but everyone here at Tumblr HQ who made this possible.

Like a lot of you in the Tumblr community, we grew up watching Seinfeld, and we never get enough of the stuff you post. And there is so much stuff. So finding an opportunity to collaborate with a brand partner like this is, frankly, a Festivus miracle.

Check out all the Seinfeld and Festivus content (better in Festivus mode) and follow the official seinfeld blog.

One other Festivus miracle: the Festivus episode is airing tonight—check local listings and all that jazz.
