Celebrating Its 25th Anniversary, Telefe Partners With Applicaster on Second Screen App

After raising $10.5 million in a Series B funding round in February, social TV company Applicaster continues to expand its international customer base.

To help celebrate its 25th anniversary, Telefe, one of Argentina’s biggest TV networks, teamed with Applicaster on a second screen app. The app, which syncs with Telefe’s live TV experience and features an extensive VOD library, has topped the iTunes and Google Play charts.

Viewers will be able to stream the network’s live 25th anniversary special and receive live red carpet updates.

“Within a short period of time following the introduction of the new “Mi Telefe” app we have received the most important feedback from our audience, placing the app in the first place in both app stores”, said Esteban Raffo, Digital Platforms manager at Telefe. “TV audiences in Argentina are enthusiastic about participating directly with TV content, and we constantly seek new ways to entertain our audience”.

In terms of mobile penetration in Latin America, Argentina trails only Brazil and Mexico. Outside of its partnership with Telefe, Applicaster’s work in Latin America includes second screen experience for ‘Next Top Model’ and ‘The Voice.’
