Back from the dead: Netflix begins Instagram promotion for Season 4 of ‘The Killing’

By Adam Flomenbaum

Netflix-The-KillingIn November, it was confirmed that Netflix would be reviving ‘The Killing,’ which AMC had cancelled for a second time.

After the announcement of the first revival, Vulture’s Josef Adalian wrote about “three reasons why AMC’s un-cancellation of the show wasn’t a totally bonkers idea.” Adalian’s third reason – “Because of the show’s procedural format, AMC can try to attract new viewers to season three” – is likely the rationale behind Netflix bringing back a final, 6-episode season of the show. Season 4 does not yet have a release date, and Netflix will be able to take its time trying to cull fans of the first three seasons and potential viewers alike. Yesterday, Netflix began its social push for the show, introducing an Instagram account with behind-the-scenes pictures and videos from the set.Word from Netflix is that this will be the conclusion of ‘The Killing,’ but if the show is able to attract a new and bigger audience we might be in for an unprecedented third comeback.
