Sets up and executes live feature segments on Good Day Atlanta; when
necessary, functions as a news reporter, interviewing subjects of
news stories in the field and packaging news reports; maintains
contacts with sources and cultivates new sources; stays abreast of
local events and entertainment news; integrates graphics, video tape
with audio tracks to produce feature stories for broadcast on
newscasts and special news programming; researches and develops
stories and story ideas for future use; assumes responsibility for
final content and presentation of feature segments and news reports
on the air; appears on camera live, both in the studio and at remote
locations. Candidate must be a skilled live television performer who
displays an outgoing, exuberant personality. Candidate must
demonstrate skill in writing conversational broadcast copy; must have
the skills and experience necessary to make independent editorial
decisions in the field and to supervise photographers and technical
staff assigned to work with him/her in the field; must have the
ability to learn to use the newsroom’s computer system; must
communicate clearly and deal effectively and politely with the public
in person and over the telephone; must have a college degree and at
least two years experience as a news reporter for a commercial
television station.
