Before Sign-Up Deadline, MSNBC and Fox Hosts Hold Affordable Care Act Live Chats

She’s still fairly new as a daily MSNBC host, but Joy Reid is jumping head first into social media, hosting a Google+ Hangout live chat this afternoon alongside New York Times correspondent and medical doctor Elisabeth Rosenthal.

The two answered fan questions about President Obama’s Affordable Care Act ahead of the sign-up deadline on March 31.

The first question, from “Forget About It,” was on why there’s a deadline to sign up at all.

Rosenthal explained that with insurance companies, if you let people not have coverage, they wait until they get sick to pay for coverage, leaving the system without enough funds to cover people already sick.

And Fox News is also embracing Google + Hangout: “Special Report” host Bret Baier held a Hangout on March 20, discussing the ACA with a mother of two, a conservative activist, and a father and grandfather of six.
