Latest YA Book Trend: Threesomes

By Dianna Dilworth

Want to write a successful YA novel? Forget vampires and consider adding a threesome, at least according to a report in The New York Daily News.

The piece argues that books aimed at today’s teens are including love triangles and sex scenes involving more than two people. Check it out:

“I frequently tell my clients to sex it up,” said Brianne Johnson, an agent who represents authors of Young Adult fiction. “It helps sales.”

Johnson offered that advice to Cristina Moracho, whose 2014 YA novel “Althea & Oliver” includes an unusual love triangle. Moracho was deciding whether to include a scene in which a female character is manually stimulated by another character, and Johnson told her to trust her instincts.
