The global publishing group Wolters Kluwer is selling off its educational publishing arm – including UK-based Nelson Thorne, a publisher of education books, CD-ROMs and electronic teaching and learning resources – and expects upwards of 700 million euros for the sale, the Telegraph reports. Investment bank Lehman Brothers has been appointed to advise and run the auction process for the educational arm, the largest in Europe. News of the sale process came as rumours circulated that Reed Elsevier, one of Wolters Kluwer’s main rivals, was a potential bid target for the Dutch publisher, but so far it’s only likely that they will be just one of several potential buyers, along with Pearson, Lagardere and Nordic publisher SanomaWSOY.
