Wikipedian in Residence Joins National Archives

By Jason Boog

The National Archives have hired a special “Wikipedian in Residence,” part of an international movement to connect Wikipedia to famous museums and archives–a cool new job for aspiring writers, librarians, and researchers.

Here’s more from eBookNewser: “Dominic McDevitt-Parks, a graduate student in history and archives management at Simmons College in Boston, will be interning at the National Archives this summer. He will be working at the facility in College Park, MD, where he will work to foster collaboration between the Wikipedia community and the National Archives.”

Archivists have served as “Wikipedian in Residence” at the British Museum, Museu Picasso in Barcelona, the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis and the Archives of American Art in Washington, DC. What cultural institution needs a “Wikipedian in Residence” next?
