What’s the Worst Day Job You’ve Ever Had?

By Dianna Dilworth

Supporting yourself while working on a book can be tricky. You’ve got to make sure you have enough time to write, but you’ve also got to eat. What’s the worst day job you ever had?

Digital publisher Open Road Integrated Media posted a video (embedded above) where authors share their crazy job histories. From working in movie theaters, selling blood, writing rejection letters for manuscripts, driving trucks and working for the railroad, Open Road authors would do anything to support their writing careers.

In the video, which we’ve posted above, author Kevin O’Brien shareed advice that helped him: “I read an article once that Lawrence Kasdan advised young screenwriters and writers to take on a job that they really didn’t want to do, something that they couldn’t fall back on, because if they had a fall back job, they’d fall back on it.”
