Wattpad Has a New Program to Help Writers Get Discovered

By Dianna Dilworth

Digital writing community Wattpad has introduced a new program to help aspiring writers get discovered.

Wattpad reports that more than 40 million people use the site every month and that a new user signs up every second. Wattpad Stars is designed to help writers capture the attention of these readers and even brands to help expand their awareness and potential to earn a living through writing.

Recent successes from Wattpad include Anna Todd. Her story “After” on Wattpad went viral on social networks and had one billion reads on Wattpad. The company has since helped her land a six figure publishing deal and a film deal with Paramount. Rebecca Sky, another successful author on the platform, was recently commissioned to write for the Athenos campaign and was featured in the New York Times.
