Journalists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin rocketed to the top of the Amazon bestseller list with “Game Change“–collecting some less-than-flattering moments from the election trail.
While that book generated controversy by revealing juicy quotes from interviews with various politicians, another book looked at the press’ underlying attitude about women during the election. Over at wowOwow, Washington Post White House correspondent Anne Kornblut, introduced her new book, “Notes from the Cracked Ceiling: Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin and What It Will Take for a Woman to Win.”
Here’s an excerpt from the post: “I did not grow up believing I lived in an unequal and harsh universe because of my gender–and for the most part, I still don’t. This isn’t ‘Mad Men.’ But blind faith in the notion that a woman president is right around the corner seems a little misplaced after 2008, when two history-making candidates failed to fully capitalize on the advantages of being women and were treated roughly in the press and by the public.”
