vivianhowardVivian Howard, star of the PBS show A Chef’s Life, has signed a two-book deal with Little Brown and Company. The first title, Deep Run Roots: Ingredients from My Corner of North Carolina, is slated for publication in 2015.

“Storytelling and cooking are two things I absolutely love to do, so the opportunity to tell the story of my region’s food through the lens of family and memory is big,” explained Howard in a statement. “Honestly, I hope I get to write lots about food, but I’m going to do everything I can to make sure Deep Run Roots is memorable, useful, and relevant.”

Howard opened Chef & the Farmer restaurant in a 100-year old mule stable in Kinston, NC, with her husband Ben Knight back in 2006. She is the star of the new PBS show, which premiered in September 2013.
