Viet Thanh Nguyen (GalleyCat)Viet Thanh Nguyen has written a new article for The Los Angeles Times on the “Democrats’ failure and our future.” In this piece, the Pulitzer Prize winner (pictured, via) shared his thoughts on the outcome of the 2016 presidential race. Here’s an excerpt:

“Here’s what I have to say to American liberals and leftists: instead of listening to the strategists, who don’t believe it’s possible to dramatically change our society, can we finally be bold and listen to the artists and the outsiders and the radicals and the freaks and the avant-garde and the base and the youth and the anarchists and all those who don’t want to do business as usual with the limousine liberalism of both the elite Democrats and Republicans? Can we listen to the dreamers instead of the doubters?”

Since the results of the election were announced, a number of writers and celebrities have shared their reactions. Jennifer Lawrence, an Oscar-winning actress, crafted an essay for Vice’s Broadly called “Don’t Be Afraid, Be Loud.” Both Virginia Heffernan, a journalist, and Lena Dunham, a Clinton supporter and filmmaker, wrote pieces for Lenny Letter readers. Within the literary community, George R.R. Martin, Grace Lin, Maggie Stiefvater, and Barry Lyga wrote blog posts about this subjectJohn Green shot a video for the Vlogbrothers YouTube channel to reveal his “post-election thoughts.” How do you feel about the outcome of the recent presidential race?
