Use the Reverse Dictionary: NaNoWriMo Tip #18

By Jason Boog

Do you spend too much time trying to remember the exact word for your National Novel Writing Month manuscript? Try the Reverse Dictionary and stop wasting time.

OneLook has created a free tool that lets you type a phrase like “being tried twice for the same crime” or a category like “large birds” to receive  a helpful list of suggestions. Here’s more about the tool: “Your description can be a few words, a sentence, a question, or even just a single word. Just type it into the box above and hit the ‘Find words’ button. Keep it short to get the best results. In most cases you’ll get back a list of related terms with the best matches shown first.”

This is our eighteenth NaNoWriMo Tip of the Day. As writers around the country join the writing marathon this month, we will share one piece of advice or writing tool to help you cope with this daunting project.
