NaNoWriMo Tip #10: Use deviantART for Inspiration

By Jason Boog

Hitting a wall in your manuscript? Browse the deviantART community and search for a theme, character or element of your book–you will find enough inspiring art to cure any case of writer’s block.

Follow these links to explore some search terms: spaceshipsrain, dragonsloneliness or New York City.  If you want more ideas, we recently interviewed Ron Martino, the producer and director deviantART Network, finding how artists and writers find inspiration on the site.

Here’s an excerpt: “The literature community is vast. There are novelists, graphic novelists, comic book artists and writers. Artists and creators come to deviantART in many different ways.  We have writers that come on and they find the artists that they would like to work with to create a comic book or graphic novel. We have artists that come on and hook up with writers, colorists or line artists. They start to build out a story together.”

This is our tenth NaNoWriMo Tip of the Day. As writers around the country join the writing marathon this month, we will share one piece of advice or writing tool to help you cope with this daunting project.
