By Dianna Dilworth

jezebelGawker Media’s Jezebel blog has published more than one snarky post about Urban Outfitters and it is coming back to haunt them. The retailer is retaliating by banning the new book by Jezebel founding editor Anna Holmes from its shelves.

According to a report in The New York Daily News, Urban Outfitters told the publisher Grand Central that they won’t be stocking the upcoming Jezebel coffee table book. The is a hit for the new title The Book of Jezebel, which is aimed at the same demographic that shops in Urban Outfitters stores. The book is an encyclopedic guide based on coverage in the blog and includes topics such as pop culture, feminism, fashion, and sex, all of which are widely discussed on the site.

Here is more about the strife from The New York Daily News:

Jezebel, part of the Gawker media empire, had appeared to be a shoe-in at the store with its new book, released this week.

“Their [feelings] have been hurt because of what has been written about them on the site,” one source says about the Urban Outfitters decision. “The publisher was confident Urban Outfitters would carry it. It is a book their customers would buy.”
