Universal Studios Unveils Expansion Plans for ‘Harry Potter’ Theme Park

wizardUniversal Studios Florida has unveiled its expansion plans for the “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” theme park. The organizers consulted with J.K. Rowling herself to design the new Diagon Alley section; it will open in June.

Visitors will be required to purchase multipark tickets in order to take the Hogwarts Express across the two sections. The New York Times reports that “there will be two major new rides, eight new stores (expect a second Ollivanders wand shop) and a sprawling Leaky Cauldron restaurant.”

According to ET Online, the stores will be based on establishments that exist in the Harry Potter book series including Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions, and Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlour. One of the rides, called “Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts,” was inspired by an action-packed scene that takes place in Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows. Will you be visiting the newly expanded theme park?
