schnabel.jpgLast Friday afternoon, mediabistro.com’s UnBeige blog ran an interview with painter/film director Julian Schnabel about his latest movie, an adaptation of the Jean-Dominique Bauby memoir The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, detailing the French magazine editor’s struggle to communicate with others after a stroke left him nearly completely paralyzed. The director describes his movie as a tribute to the creative spirit: “Writing was the thing that saved Jean-Do… His interior life came alive because he started to write the book. So I think the film is very much about the process of making art.”
