U.K. Book Industry Unites to Support Syrian Migrants

By Dianna Dilworth

Waterstones has partnered with non-profit Oxfam, as well as authors and U.K. publishers, to help raise money for Oxfam’s Syria Crisis Appeal.

Beginning on Thursday Oct, 1, the book chain will begin selling a line of books by bestselling authors under the section ‘Buy Books for Syria’. These books were donated by their publishers to support the effort. In addition, Waterstones will donate the full retail price of these books sold to the effort.

Participating authors include: Philip Pullman, Hilary Mantel, David Walliams, Neil Gaiman, David Nicholls, Marian Keyes, Victoria Hislop, Ali Smith, Robert Harris, Lee Child, Salman Rushdie, Caitlin Moran, Julia Donaldson and Jacqueline Wilson. Here is more about the effort from the Waterstones blog:

All of our shops are participating, simply ask a bookseller or look for the books with the ‘Buy Books for Syria’ sticker. You can also follow the campaign online using the hashtag #BuyBooksForSyria.
