Sorrento Productions and Tauras Films are partnering to work on an adaptation of Between Shades of Gray.
The two studios have optioned the film rights to Ruta Sepetys’ popular young adult novel. Ben York Jones, an actor and screenwriter, penned the script. Filming is scheduled to begin sometime in 2014.
Philomel, an imprint at Penguin Young Readers Group, released the book in March 2011. We interviewed Sepetys and asked her about the research process for this historical fiction story. She talked about immersing herself with experiences such as spending time “in an old Soviet cattle car that was used for the deportations” and taking “part in a simulation experience in a former Soviet prison.” What do you think?
