Touchstone to Publish an American Version of the Ladybird Books for Grown-Ups Series

Fireside Hangover Cover (GalleyCat)Touchstone, a Simon & Schuster imprint, has announced plans to publish an American adaptation of the Ladybird Books for Grown-Ups series. These books, which originated from the United Kingdom, were written by comedy writers Jason Hazeley and Joel Morris.

Fireside, the company’s revived self-help imprint, will release four books on October 11. The forthcoming titles include The Fireside Grown-Up Guide to the Hangover, The Fireside Grown-Up Guide to The Husband, The Fireside Grown-Up Guide to The Mom, and The Fireside Grown-Up Guide to Mindfulness. An additional four titles will follow in Spring 2017.

Here’s more from the press release: “The Fireside Grown-Up Guides teach adults about the complicated world around them with easy-to-grasp passages, cast in large-type, and paired with color illustrations even the most arrestedly-developed could understand. In The Fireside Grown-Up Guide to the Hangover, adults learn that ‘Consuming alcohol lowers the body’s reserves of vital elements such as iron, potassium, water and bacon,’ while The Fireside Grown-Up Guide to The Mom, gently reminds readers that ‘The mom does not like hearing her own voice. That is because it sounds like her mom’s.’ All of the nostalgic-looking pocket-sized Fireside Grow-Up Guides will be produced in a paper-over-board format.”
