Tony Blair Cancels Book Party After Protests

Tony Blair Journey.jpgIn the UK, a Facebook group has named itself “Subversively move Tony Blair’s memoirs to the crime section in book shops.” The title explains it all. One member boasted that she moved three copies to the following sections: science-fiction, tragic life stories, and horror.

The memoir’s release has vexed former Prime Minister Tony Blair. Besides the Internet stunt, there has also been in-person protests at his publicity events. Protesters armed with shoes and eggs pelted Blair at his first signing in Dublin’s Eason’s bookstore. Blair has since canceled his book launch party.

The Guardian reports: “[Founder Euan Booth] had thought of staining books with fake blood — but wanted to take action that was non-criminal and peaceful. ‘It is mischievous, but no one is coming to any harm,’ he said. ‘It is a very English way of voicing your opinion and is meant to be a bit of fun.'” (Via AllFacebook)
