Tilda Swinton, an Academy Award-winning actress, has been cast in the Doctor Strange film adaptation. Swinton (pictured, via) has become well-known for acting in book-based adaptations including The Chronicles of Narnia, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Adaptation.
According to ScreenCrush, Swinton will play a character called The Ancient One. In the comics, The Ancient One, who is usually depicted as a male magician, acts as a mentor for Dr. Stephen Strange (who will be played by Benedict Cumberbatch).
Comic Book Resources reports that The Ancient One “was first introduced in 1963’s ‘Strange Tales’ #110 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko — the same issue as Doctor Strange’s debut.” Marvel Entertainment will release the movie on November 04, 2016.
