Three Witches by Paula Jolin

I’m a real sucker for anything to do with magic, so when I heard about author Paula Jolin’s book, Three Witches (Roaring Brook) I was excited.

Three very different girls, Aliya, Gillian, and Miya from three very different cultures are bonded by one thing, one boy… one dead boy that is. They all need him and they will get what they need from him, one way or another; even if it means delving into the magic of Syria, Trinidad and Japan to bring him back from the dead.”

Perfect for anyone, especially the YA audience, who is a fan of witch-craft or the supernatural.

Author, Paula Jolin is an interesting case-study herself. She studied East Asian history as an undergrad, then proceeded to do her graduate school work in Islamic Studies. She even married a Trinidadian and has spent lots of time in the Caribbean. Paula has written many articles on the world of Islam in the Arab community. It is nice to see authors who can give us a glimpse into a different world that we don’t often come across besides on the evening news.
