Thomas Kunkel Wins Sperber Prize

imageThomas Kunkel’s profile of journalist Joseph Mitchell has won the 2016 Ann M. Sperber Prize by Fordham University.

The prize, which is awarded in honor of Ann M. Sperber author of the a biography on Edward R. Murrow, celebrates biographies. The $1,000 prize has been given every year since 1999 by Fordham University’s Department of Communication and Media Studies.

Kunkel’s book, Man in Profile, was described as “an extraordinary biography of an extraordinary writer whose poetic insights and graceful style revolutionized literary journalism in America,” by Brian Rose, Ph.D., professor of communications and director of the Sperber Prizes.
