It’s not enough that Degrassi: The Next Generation is the highest-rated “Canadian content” drama on CTV, and that it’s captivated American viewers (not all of them teenagers, either) as well through endless showings on The N. Fresh off the success of Degrassi Generations: The Official 411, a series guide that covers the show through its various incarnations over the last 25 years, Pocket Books is developing Degrassi manga-style graphic novels for an October pub date. The press release includes some sample artwork created as “proof of concept;” I love that Pocket’s aware enough of the otaku-like levels of fan devotion that they come right out and say this drawing of Ellie (right) conforms to her Season Three appearance, and that the actual final versions of the characters appearing in Degrassi: Extra Credit will “more closely resemble their appearances in Season Five.” Yes, but do we get a Jay and Silent Bob cameo?
