The Paris Book Fair is This Month

Looking for a foreign rights deal or perhaps you need to meet with translators? The 35th Paris Book Fair will take place this month from March 20-23.

The international event attracts more than 198,000 visitors from 50 countries around the globe. The event is open to professionals, as well as the general public.

This year’s program centers on copyright. “Copyright is an essential cornerstone of intellectual works,” explains the website. “In an international world threatened by the levelling of culture and language, copyright remains an essential human right. Without copyright, there is no cultural diversity, no cultural and creative sector to drive the innovation which today forms one of Europe’s strengths and the key to expanding its influence.”

Brazil is the country being honored this year and Cracovia and Wroclaw are the invited towns. In addition, the fair is also opening a space for tourism and travel books this year.
