It was so cool to see the deal announcement on Publishers Marketplace yesterday for The Superest, the website where Matthew Sutter and Kevin Cornell go back and forth, drawing one superpowered character after another as “each hero’s dominant (often quirky and humorous) power serves to supplant his nemesis, although the same power acts as his Achilles heel when battling the successive superhero.” So fun! And the announcement used the word “colorful,” which would be a nice addition to the already-winning format.
Here’s some other superhero-themed blogs that we think would make fun books down the line:
- Project Rooftop: reimagining the classic characters in fabulous new outfits
- Dial B for Blog: richly illustrated history
- What WERE They Thinking?: comic book readers have suffered a lot of foolishness over the decades; also, many things are funny out of context
- Random Happenstance: fotonovelas, with action figures!
Sadly, intellectual property rights would probably hamper all of these; what with licensing and all, the cost would be prohibitive…
