The First Twitter Lit Adaptation

By Jason Boog

Arjun_23.jpgAfter more than 1,700 tweets, Twitter author Arjun Basu (pictured) has finally landed a microblog-sized movie deal.

Every day Basu publishes bite-sized, fictional tweets like this short short story: “They tolerated the ennui of their jobs, bought off by promises of spectacular riches sometime in the future. At retirement, they bought guns.”

Now Canadian director James Cooper has made a minute-long film based on one of Basu’s stories. The film is a finalist in the Filminute competition, and Twitter lit fans can vote for the short short movie here. As the broad selection of films in the contest shows, the short short film genre is booming–perhaps looking for more Twitter scripts.
