The Anarchist Cookbook Author Says Book Should Go Out of Print

By Dianna Dilworth

anarchistcookbookWilliam Powell, the author of The Anarchist Cookbook, told NBC News that this book should go out of print.

The book was cited as on the reading list of Karl Pierson, the student that shot at other students at his school in Colorado last week.

Here is more from NBC News: “‘The Anarchist Cookbook’ should go quietly and immediately out of print,’ says William Powell, who wrote the book as a stern 19-year-old, an opponent of the Vietnam War who felt violence was justified if it could prevent even greater violence in the process. He has since renounced that position, but never so forcefully, telling NBC in an email that ‘it is no longer responsible or defensible to keep it in print.'”

The publisher Billy Blann, founder of Delta Press, disagrees and told the news outlet, “we don’t ban books in America.”
