TED Conference Dispatch: Elizabeth Gilbert on Creativity

eatpraylove.jpgThe Internet’s best and brightest are attending the annual TED Conference in California this week. This afternoon, mediabistro.com’s Laurel Touby wrote a running Twitter report on author Elizabeth Gilbert’s lecture.

You can follow Touby’s Twitter feed for constant updates on the conference. Gilbert’s memoir Eat, Pray, Love has ruled the bestseller list for a few years, but her speech is about “genius, and how we ruin it”–exploring how our culture has lost touch with Greek and Roman conceptions of creativity.

Here’s more from Touby’s coverage, a juicy quote from Gilbert: “[It is] exceedingly likely my greatest success is behind me and I’m only 40 yrs old…that thought could lead me to drink gin!”
