The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical will open on Broadway next year. The story for this theatrical project comes from Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book. The teaser videos embedded above and below offers glimpses of Willy Wonka making his way through the streets of New York City.
Here’s more from Entertainment Weekly: “Two-time Tony winner Christian Borle will step into the candy man’s shoes for the Broadway version of the musical that debuted in London’s West End in 2013. The musical will reunite the creative team behind Hairspray on Broadway: director Jack O’Brien and musical collaborators Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.”
According to TIME, two songs from the 1971 Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory film adaptation will be included in this show: “Pure Imagination” and “The Candy Man.” The opening date has been set for April 23, 2017. Tickets will be made available starting September 16, 2016. (via TheaterMania)
