Marvel announced plans to publish a Black Panther spin-off series called World of Wakanda. Ta-Nehisi Coates and Roxane Gay will collaborate on writing the story.
This project marks the first time that Gay will write for a comic book series. In an interview with the Marvel.com team, Coates assured fans that they do not need to read the original Black Panther series to understand World of Wakanda.
The New York Times reports that the first issue will feature “a 10-page second story” on “Zenzi, a female revolutionary who incited a riot in the first issue of the Black Panther series” written by Yona Harvey. Alitha Martinez and Afua Richardson have signed on to create illustrations and cover designs. (via TIME)
