Summit Entertainment Grabs Film Rights for ‘Noggin’

nogginSummit Entertainment has snatched up the film rights to a forthcoming young adult book by award-winning author John Corey Whaley called Noggin.

According to DeadlineDear John screenwriter Jamie Linden has been hired to serve as the director and pen the script. Atheneum Books for Young Readers, an imprint at Simon & Schuster, will release the book on April 08, 2014.

The story follows “dying young man agrees to be cryogenically frozen, Ted Williams style, for as long as it takes for medical science to be able to cure the disease that is killing him. He wakes up just five years later and finds his head grafted onto the body of someone else. He’s still 16, but discovers life has moved on without him. Seeing that his friends have grown up and his life love is engaged to someone else, he tries to find a way to build a new life, even if new scars are inevitable.”
