429 Television Script Ideas That Sold

New York Magazine collected short descriptions of 429 scripts that have been bought by networks over the last year.

While many of these scripts never even made it to the pilot stage, the list can teach aspiring screenwriters some invaluable lessons about popular themes, ideas, and plots. Check out out 30 Scriptwriting Tips in One Post for more inspiration.

Here’s an excerpt: “Every year, thousands of ideas are pitched to the four big networks. This season, they bought the 429 scripts listed below. The ones that are highlighted became pilots. And this week, we’ll find out which lucky few have earned slots on the air… Of the 429 scripts sold, 59 are about cops and/or private eyes, 24 are medical dramas,  3 are musicals.” (Photo via)
