Rod Lurie, director of “The Last Castle” and the “Line of Fire” television series, will remake Sam Peckinpah’s classic film, “Straw Dogs.” The Hollywood Reporter notes that both films are based on a long out of print (in the US) crime novel, “The Siege of Trencher’s Farm” by Gordon Williams.

Here’s his Bloomsbury biography: “Gordon Williams was born in Paisley in 1934, before becoming a reporter and settling in London. He has written extensively for television, and as the commercial manager of Chelsea FC. He is the author of over twenty novels, including From Scenes Like These which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize, Walk Don’t Walk, and Growing up in the West.”
