Steven Spielberg Eying the Director’s Seat for ’39 Clues’ Film

The 39 Clues.jpgThe movie rights for 39 Clues has been sold to DreamWorks Studios and Steven Spielberg is said to be eying the director’s job. Deborah Forte of Scholastic Media will act as producer. Jeff Nathanson holds the screenwriter position and is currently adapting the series into a script. Spielberg and Nathanson have previously worked together on 2002’s Catch Me if You Can.

Spielberg currently sits in the director’s seat for the movie, War Horse. The film’s roots originates from Michael Morpurgo’s 1982 children’s book which bears the same title. The film will be released on August 10th 2011.

It was just announced that the 39 Clues will publish a second wave of books. A total of six books will be penned for The 39 Clues: Cahills vs. Vespers series with famed novelist David Baldacci as the author for the final title. Baldacci’s book will be published in March 2013.
