Carli Lloyd (GalleyCat)Carli Lloyd, the captain of the U.S. women’s national soccer team, has signed a deal with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. She plans to write a memoir chronicling the events of her athletic career; that book will be followed by a young readers edition.

Executive editor Susan Canavan negotiated the deal with William Morris Endeavor literary agent Jay Mandel. The publication date for the first memoir has been scheduled for Fall 2016.

Lloyd gave this statement in the press release: “Winning the World Cup with my teammates was one of the most thrilling moments I could imagine. Getting there was a long journey, sometimes rewarding, sometimes challenging, but worth every moment of hard work and sacrifice. I’m super excited to have the opportunity to work with Susan and HMH to tell my story. I think it will be a book that will inspire and motivate players, fans, coaches and anyone who wants to achieve their dreams.”
