By Jason Boog

s&slogo23.jpgYesterday Simon & Schuster publisher Jonathan Karp announced some sweeping structural changes at the trade imprint–dividing publicity and marketing responsibilities among “fluid” and “less centralized” teams of publishing professionals. Read all about it here.

On Twitter, readers, writers, and publishing professionals debated the reorganization under the #simonreorg hashtag. We’ve collected a few of those responses–add yours in the comments section.

McNally Jackson led the charge, writing: “Does the #simonreorg look like the future of the big guys? That is, are indies pubs, those penniless scofflaws, the models to be imitated?”

Katie wrote: “As an editor, I think it sounds awesome. It replicates the really great teamwork you can have at a small press, w/o depts.”

Emma Straub concluded: “I think the S & S news reflects changing landscape, where everyone is already doing every job.”
