s&slogo23.jpgLast week, Simon & Schuster awarded Addelin Ceballos the inaugural Simon & Schuster Book Scholarship. The $2,000 scholarship will help the incoming freshman pay for reading and textbooks when she attends Pace University for the next four years.

Ceballos graduated from New York City’s High School of Media and Communications, an institution that Simon & Schuster adopted through an Adopt-A-High-School program. They have sponsored book clubs, filed trips, and provided Food Network personality Daisy Martinez as a graduation speaker at the high school.

Here’s more about the winner: “Ms. Ceballos, who moved to America from the Dominican Republic in 1999 at the age of seven, is a member of the National Honor Society, the Secretary of the Student Government, a former participant in the Puerto Rican Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute in Albany, a perfect attendance winner all four years of school, is one of fifteen students in the history of her school to pass the New York State’s Physics Regents exam, is a mentor in the school’s Freshman Advisory Program and ranked 13 out of 150 students in her class.”
