Scene @ Thomas Mallon’s Fellow Travelers Party

thomas-mallon-party.jpgIf only it were more convenient for us to skip down to Washington, D.C., we should’ve loved to party with one of our favorite contemporary writers and critics, Thomas Mallon (right), to honor his latest novel, Fellow Travelers. Stephen Bottum of the Band of Thebes blog was able to make the trip, though, and provides an excellent recap of the evening, including the moment when Mallon introduced his audience to Frank Kameny (left), the civil rights activist who was fired from his federal government job in the 1950s because of his sexuality, a common situation which is central to Mallon’s narrative.
