While I was gallivanting off to Los Angeles Friday, the New-York Historical Society presented its annual American History Book Prize to David Nasaw (center) for his biography of Andrew Carnegie. He accepted congratulations from Roger Hertog of the Manhattan Institute and N-YHS president Louise Mirrer after a cocktail reception and dinner that drew some of the marquee names in the history field, as well as journalists Cokie Roberts, Lesley Stahl, and Aaron Latham. The reception was the kickoff to the Historical Society’s annual “Weekend with History,” a two-day series of informal panels for Society members.

(Thanks to Don Pollard for taking the photo in our absence.)
