It was nearly a year ago that we introduced you to Annabelle Gurwitch‘s Fired!, a book full of anecdotes from actors and other famous people about jobs they’d lost unceremoniously. There was also a companion film, which featured additional interviews, and that movie had its New York premiere at the Village East Theater last night, after which everyone crossed the street for a party at Panagea. At left, Gurwitch poses with her college classmate, Liz Tuccillo of He’s Just Not That Into You fame; actress Julie Klausner and NY Post reporter Mandy Stadtmiller broke off from their conversation (where Julie was doing her best to convince Mandy to watch the Billy Wilder classic Ace in the Hole*) long enough to pose for the camera. On the literary side of things, I also spotted Barbara Ehrenreich and former National Writers Union head Jonathan Tasini.

*Unfortunately, I think the advice came too late, for many of you as well as Mandy; the film was actually on Turner Classic Movies at 2:30 this morning, and it’s not on video or DVD yet, so there probably won’t be another chance to see it until next year. Too bad—it’s an amazing film.
