Rock star Sammy Hagar has signed a deal to publish his autobiography with the HarperCollins imprint, It Books. “I’ve been writing this book my whole life .. It’s time to put it between two covers,” Hagar said in a statement.

The book is scheduled for publication in 2011. The Literary Group International president Frank Weimann negotiated the deal with HarperCollins director of creative development, Lisa Sharkey. Senior editor Matt Harper will edit the rock star’s memoir. In the video embedded above, Hagar performs Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll” at Farm Aid concert in 1985.

Here’s more from the release: “Hagar will provide readers with incredible behind-the-scenes stories from his multi-platinum career, including his rise as a solo artist and his eleven years with Van Halen, after the controversial departure of original lead vocalist David Lee Roth.”
