Rodale Shuts Door on UK Office

By Carmen

Health and lifestyle publisher Rodale has scaled down its UK books operation, according to Publishing News, with many of its staff leaving the company, including its MD Louise Rice. he publisher has recently been focusing on a list of titles bought from its US parent company and repackaged, after a program which included some titles bought specifically for the UK market. Only foreign rights and direct marketing (the latter non-book related) departments remain at its London office, which is due to close at the end of March, but there remains a possibility that Pan Macmillan (which handles sales & distribution for the publisher) may attempt to restructure the company.
