It is set just after the U.S. invasion of Iraq when the main character Jonah lives with his aging guardian. His grandfather is pressuring him to become a man of the cloth when his heart is elsewhere.
The author is originally from Kenya and helps the readers see life through the eyes of an immigrant on American soil. This is his third novel.
